The love affair with coffee, blends and flavored coffee runs deep within our souls for Sandy and I. A passion not only for good coffee but for the beauty of how coffee evolved over the past 100 years. The craftsmanship of old roasters, the deco grinders, beautiful graphic tins, old coffee signs and the general store where you could get your beans ground. That look; that era, keeps us in search of coffee memorabilia. For almost 20 years we have hunted, searched, dug through antiques stores, flea markets, auctions, estate sales, anywhere we might find one new coffee tin or a cool 40’s coffee grinder buried in the back of the store. Some of my personal favorites are our four Royal Coffee Roasters that we have found; a #7 - 50 lb roaster, a #5 - 15 lb roaster, a #4 - 12 lb roaster and then an original #1 - 5 lb roaster on it’s original wooden platform with the original stencil. These roasters are very ornate and true works of art. We also collect Texas coffee tins with a passion. The coffee train is from a Brownwood Texas roaster. When you purchased the coffee it came in a tin and inside the tin was the wheel assembly to put on the tin after the coffee was gone making it a part of the train. How cool is that? Also several other Texas coffee roasters put coffee in a 5 lb metal bucket shaped like a pail with a handle. After the coffee was gone, the bucket (pail) was used to milk the cows while the lid served as a pan for baking biscuits. We love it and we wanted to share some of our finds with you! Also, at the same time show you some of the history of how coffee got us here with beauty. Enjoy!
